Bhubaneswar: Krishi Vigyan Kendra-Khordha, Odisha today inaugurated two skill development training programmes of five days each on ‘Beekeeping for self-employment’ and ‘Scientific management practice for higher fish production’.
Sri A.K. Dash and Sri P.R. Sahoo, scientists of KVK-Khordha coordinated the training programmes for empowering the rural youths of Khordha district, Odisha through adopting scientific beekeeping and fish farming practices.
While inaugurating the programmes Dr. S.K. Swain, Director of ICAR-Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture appreciated the initiatives and assured the participant youths the technical support from the KVK and ICAR-CIFA. He applauded the efforts made by KVK-Khordha in helping the farmers for adopting advanced fish farming and beekeeping. Dr. S.S. Giri, Head of KVK- Khordha being the Course Director of the programmes highlighted the objectives and scope of the capacity building trainings in empowering youths for strengthening rural livelihood and self-employment.
He mentioned that the expertise of ICAR-CIFA Scientists, State Agriculture University, line-Departments of the State Government, progressive farmers and entrepreneurs will be drawn for providing training and exposure visits to the youths.
A total of 22 rural youths joined in these two 5-days durations residential training programmes at KVK-Khordha, Kausalyaganga, Bhubaneswar, maintaining COVID-19 guidelines.
