Malkangiri: Six workers suffered grievous injuries after boundary wall of an under construction airstrip collapsed on them near Kateliguda village of Malkangari district today.
The wall caved in due to strong wind and rain caused by norwester in the district. The six workers have been admitted to district headquarters hospital.
The wall collapsed on the workers while they were working at the site. While many others ran away to safe places, six of them were crushed under the wall.
Fellow labourers and local residents immediately rescued them. They called the ambulance to shift the injured to hospital. But, the ambulance reached the spot late. Local people took them to the Malkangiri District Headquarters Hospital by auto- rickshaw and tractor.
Locals attributed the incident to the substandard construction of the boundary wall.
