Siren averts loot bid in bank at Dhenkanal

Dhenkanal: A group of looters ran away after a siren installed at the Gramya Bank in Dhenkanal rang during the robbery bid.

According to sources, the incident occurred last night while a group of robbers broke into the bank by smashing the asbestos roof.

The siren installed at the strongroom of the bank blew while the robbers were trying to enter it with the use of iron wire and cutter. This caused panic among the looters forcing them for a hasty retreat.

As the bank is situated just 100 metres away from Dhenkanal Town Police Station, the siren also alerted the cops.

Though the cops rushed to the spot immediately, the miscreants had managed to flee the spot by then.

Following this, police immediately informed the bank manager about the incident.

Later in the morning, Dhenkanal Town Police IIC Abhinav Dalua along with a forensic team and a sniffer dog reached the bank in order to initiate an investigation.

Branch Manager Prafulla Behera informed that nothing was stolen from the bank.
