Bhubaneswar: After Commissionerate Police unearthed three SIM Box setups in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and Ranchi, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) Wednesday arrived in Odisha to investigate the alleged terror links.
An NIA officer arrived in Bhubaneswar today to probe the connections between prime suspect Raju Mandal and Bangladeshi coordinator Asadur Jaman.
Earlier, the Commissionerate Police had sought the help of NIA and Interpol to investigate any terrorist activities linked to Raju and Asadur.
The NIA is expected to take Raju Mandal into a five-day remand to interrogate him about his alleged terror connections and other frauds.
In the meantime, there are indications that a fourth SIM box setup might have been established in West Bengal. Raju is presently in Jharkhand, where he was escorted by the Commissionerate Police to dismantle a third SIM box operation in Ranchi.
According to reports, these SIM boxes were utilized for international calls to Pakistan, Afghanistan, Turkey, and other nations, leading the Commissionerate Police to suspect terrorist affiliations.
On the other hand, after Raju’s arrest, the family lodged a complaint with the West Bengal Police Station regarding Raju’s disappearance. After investigating the case, the West Bengal Police tracked Raju’s mobile location to Bhubaneswar Laxmi Sagar Police Station.
Today, accused Raju’s family members reached Laxmisagar police station along with the lawyer. Reportedly, the police are also interrogating the family members to elicit more information about Raju.
