Shop-sale timings to be customized in all ULBs: Odisha Chief Secy
Bhubaneswar: In order to facilitate the availability of groceries and other daily needs of the people during the ongoing lockdown period, the State government has allowed the authorities of all ULBs to customize the timings of shop-sale.
In a letter to All Collectors & District Magistrates and all Commissioners of Municipal Corporations, Chief Secretary Asit Kumar Tripathy to ensure the availability of Groceries & other daily needs of the people like Milk, Vegetables, etc. with ease coupled, with the requirement of maintaining social distancing.
As per the instruction issued by the Housing and Urban Development department, large markets attracting a large number of traders and consumers may be spread out on to the nearby open spaces, playgrounds, and roads.
Shop-sale timings can be increased to reduce congestion & efforts may be made to extend it to the night hours also. Besides, circles/squares are also to be made before each shop to enforce social distancing of consumers in the queue system, it was advised.
Home delivery of groceries/ vegetables/ fruits /medicines have to be facilitated in all cities & towns. Some of the major cities have engaged with the traders’ bodies & notified home delivery charges, it said.
Further, efforts may be made to facilitate the conversion of mobile eatery vans to mobile grocery/ vegetable/ fruits vans, wherever possible.
The WSHGs/ ALFs may be roped in by way of supply of non-mechanized vehicles/ tri-cycles/ push carts etc. for selling of groceries/ vegetables/ fruits etc. in their respective areas duly following social distancing norms.
The Odisha Chief Secretary has directed to systematically plan and implement the directives in all ULBs with immediate effect.
