Sex slur: SCW asks regional daily to furnish details of story published against litterateur
Bhubaneswar: The State Commission for Women (SCW) today asked to furnish details of a story published against noted litterateur Haraprasad Das from a regional daily.
SCW started a suo motto investigation into the matter of sexual harassment allegations brought against Das by a female writer and teacher that shook the literary fraternity in Odisha.
SCW’s investigation came in response to a complaint lodged by a group of civil society members demanding investigation and action against the accused.
According to sources, the Kalahandi-based female writer drew attention of some fellow-writers through a Facebook post where she shared screenshots of chats with Das. In the chats Das had sent indecent messages late in the night.
Das, however, denied the allegations and dubbed it ‘false’ and ‘fabricated’. He has been inactive in Facebook for a long time and it could be a ‘hacker’s job’.
“These allegations are totally false and baseless. I think this could be a work of some hacker who sent the messages from my account without my knowledge,” Das said.
