Severe cold wave condition: Collectors, ULBs urged to protect people, livestock

Bhubaneswar: The Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) has directed District Collectors and Municipal heads after IMD bulletin predicted severe cold wave condition for Odisha.

The Special Bulletin-3 on Tuesday said that isolated cold wave to severe cold wave condition is very likely to prevail over different districts of Odisha till December 25 morning.

The SRC has asked the District Collectors and Municipal heads to take necessary measures to protect the people and livestock during the severe cold wave condition.

The message of SRC said there is a possibility of cold related illness among people which may get aggravated due to prolonged exposure to cold.

The SRC’s message advised people not to move during night, especially on two-wheelers or in open cars. The message added that necessary precautions must be taken while using electrical and gas heating devices to get relief from cold wave.

The homeless and needy people must be accommodated in the school buildings, community buildings and other available buildings during night.

The SRC also stressed on the importance of public awareness campaign to inform people on severe cold wave condition prevailing the state.
