Seven more sluice gates of Hirakud Dam opened today


Sambalpur: The Hirakud dam authorities have opened seven more sluice gates on Monday to release excess floodwater from the reservoir.

Reportedly, the floodwater is being released from 14 sluice gates.

The water level at the reservoir recorded 620.89 ft against storage capacity of 630 ft by 9.00 am today. Around 1, 75, 318 Cubic feet water per second is entering the dam against the outflow of 2,37, 910 cubic feet water.

As per the dam authorities, the expected maximum flood flow at Mundali point will be about 4 lakh cusec today.

On the other hand, all the 11 gates of Mandira Dam situated near Rourkela have been opened as the water level of the Brahmani river is rising.
