Mumbai: Indian markets rose early today with benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty both hitting new highs. Nifty zoomed over 0.5% to a new high of 12,337 while Sensex also rose over 250 points to 41,893.
Among the Sensex 30 stocks, Infosys was the top gainer, rising 4%.
The S&P BSE Sensex over 250 points, or 0.63 per cent, at 41,862 levels. Infosys (up 5%), Hindustan Unilever, Tech Mahindra, and Mahindra & Mahindra (all up 1%) were the top gainers in the Sensex pack. On the other hand, TCS (down 0.5%) was the top laggard.
The broader Nifty50 index was trading at fresh all-time highs at around 12,330 levels, up 73 points, or 0.6 per cent.
Majority of the Nifty sectoral indices were trading in the green. Nifty IT index, up 1.6 per cent, gained the most.
In the broader market, the S&P BSE MidCap climbed 95 points, or 0.62 per cent, and the S&P BSE SmallCap index was up 107 points, or 0.75 per cent.
