Sensex Soars 500 Points

Mumbai: Domestic stock markets started Tuesday’s session on a strong note a day after plunging nearly 2 per cent amid surging crude oil prices and tensions in the Middle East.

At 9:18 am, the Sensex traded 388.67 points – or 0.96 per cent – higher at 41,065.30 while the Nifty was up 129.65 points – or 1.08 per cent – at 12,122.70.

HDFC Bank, Reliance Industries and ICICI Bank contributed the most to the gain in Sensex, together accounting for a more than the 200-point rise in the index.
