Mumbai: Indian markets recovered from lows after falling sharply in early trade. Sensex was down about 140 points to 40,728.
State Bank of India, Larsen & Toubro, and PowerGrid (all down over 1 per cent) were the top laggards in the Sensex pack. On the other hand, TCS (up 0.9%) and UltraTech Cement (up 0.7) were the top gainers.
The broader Nifty50 index reclaimed the crucial level of 12,000, down 42 points, or 0.31 per cent.
All the Nifty sectoral indices except Nifty IT index were trading in the red. Nifty PSU Bank index, down 1.9 per cent, bled the most.
