Bhubaneswar/Sambalpur: Senior BJD Leader of Sambalpur Siddharth Das has been appointed as State Secretary of Biju Janata Dal by the Chief Minister and party supremo Naveen Patnaik.
Das met and seek guidance and blessings from BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik while expressing his gratitude for selecting him as State Secretary of Biju Janata Dal yesterday at Naveen Niwas.
He was given a mammoth reception at Dhanupali chowk on his arrival at Sambalpur by the senior citizens, social activists, local BJD workers and leaders late Friday evening. He called upon all his well-wishers, friends and party workers to strengthen BJD for the welfare and development of Sambalpur District and its people.
Er. Siddharth Das is a popular political leader of western Odisha. He started his political career from CPI (M) later joined the Janata Dal being inspired by the legendary late Biju Patnaik.
Das was also district president of Janata Dal Sambalpur from 1996 to till its split. He was BJD supported candidate for Sambalpur Assembly Constituency in 2009 and cornered 13 % of the valid votes. Thereafter due to his support, BJD managed to win Burla NAC and won the by-polls for Ward number-8 of Sambalpur Municipality.
He was the prime mover of BJD’s victory in 2014 Assembly elections at Sambalpur, Rengali & Redhakhol constituency. He has sizable followings in entire Sambalpur District and commands respect as well as affection from cross sections of masses.
During 2009 to 2014, Das initiated various steps for urban developments, the formation of Sambalpur Municipal Corporation, formation of VIMSAR, second Mahanadi Bridge, Beautification of the ring road, new flyover, planetarium, ropeways etc as BJD organiser.
