Bhubaneswar: A security alert at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar was resolved without incident after a thorough inspection of a suspicious bag.
ACP Amitabh Mohapatra confirmed that the bag, which initially raised concerns, belonged to a passenger and contained no suspicious objects. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) officials conducted a detailed examination and found nothing alarming.
The incident occurred earlier today when airport security identified an unattended bag during routine checks. Following standard protocol, the area was secured, and the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) was called in to inspect the bag. After a meticulous search, the bag was declared safe, and normal operations resumed.
Soon after the suspicious bag was spotted outside the airport campus, CISF personnel along with dog squad reached the spot and started an investigation.
The incident had created panic for quite some time till the entire things were clarified by the security officials deployed at the Bhubaneswar airport following a detailed examination of the bag.
Earlier, US-based Khalistani extremist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun’s threat had created a flutter on Saturday. Pannun had issued a threat to disrupt the ongoing All India DGsP/IGsP Conference 2024 in Odisha’s Bhubaneswar by sending emails to several journalists in Odisha along with an audio message.
