Security forces, Maoists exchange fire in Kandhamal-Kalahandi border


Kandhamal: Security forces and Maoists reportedly exchanged fire near Lubengarh village located between the border of Kandhamal and Kalahandi districts of Odisha.

According to reports, a team Special Operation Group (SOG) Jawans were on a combing operation near Lubengarh village situated between M. Rampur PS limits of Kalahandi and Baliguda PS of Kandhamal district on Tuesday.

As per sources, the rebels opened fire at the security forces and fled from their camp after the SOG Jawans fired in retaliation. The police have seized a huge cache of explosives and other materials from the Maoist camp.

Combing and search operation in the region has been intensified by the security forces, sources in the police said, adding that there are no reports of any casualty from both the side so far.
