Security beefed up in Maoist-hit areas ahead of phase-II polls


Bolangir: Security measures have been tightened in the Maoist-infested areas in Odisha ahead of second phase election in the state tomorrow.

A four-tier security cordon has been put in place in the areas to maintain law and order and avoid any untoward incident during the polling.

On the other hand, a massive cordon and search operation has been launched in Turkeikela, Khaprakhol, Gardhamrdhan hills in the district, informed Bolangir SP K Siva Subramani.

Meanwhile, security personnel have been deployed at several check posts and private vehicles are being scanned to avoid any untoward incidents.

The second phase of polling will be held on April 18 in Bargarh, Sundargarh, Bolangir, Kandhamal and Aska Lok Sabha segments, along with 35 assembly constituencies under their jurisdictions.
