Scuffle Breaks Out Infront Of India Gate, Five Security Guards Injured

New Delhi: A scuffle broke out between private security guards and vendors at Children Park on Shahjahan Road here. Although the incident took place yesterday, the incident came to fore after a video of the same went viral on social media.

According to police, the incident took place after the guards refused the vendors to allow them to sell food items as the India Gate stretch where they wanted to sell the eatables is a “no vending” zone. The fight broke out when a truck belonging to the New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) was trying to load the vendors’ materials after the guards.

In the video, vendors were dragged and hit with bricks after they clashed with security guards over a ban on selling eatables in the high-security area that has been revamped under the Central Vista project.

Following the incident, the police said a case has been registered against the vendors under charges of attempt to commit culpable homicide and assault on a public servant, among others.
