Bhubaneswar: With mutant strains of Covid-19 circulating in India and new confirmed cases on an upsurge in many states, the Bhubaneswar Civic body has begun screening of travellers at Biju Patnaik International Airport.

In the case of detection of Covid-19 symptoms in any passenger during screening, he/she would undergo the mandatory test. “Currently, there is no rise in the number of Covid-19 cases in Bhubaneswar. The trends are similar to those of the previous month. However, we have taken precautionary measures and intensified the enforcement,” the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC )Commissioner

Efforts are underway to increase the number of tests.

Issuing a fresh advisory on February 22, the BMC had directed the authorities to ensure the implementation of the Covid-19 safety protocols stringently.
