SCB Medical baby theft: Parents get their stolen babies from Odisha Police


Cuttack: Commissionerate Police today handed over two new born babies to their respective parents in presence of medical authorities who were stolen from Cuttack’s SCB hospital some days earlier.

The new born baby has been handed over to parents,  Sita Devi and Katiman Mandal from Bihar who  was stolen from the gynaecology department of SCB Medical College and Hospital on January 5. The parents had reported baby missing case at SCB medical police outpost.

The new born was lifted stealthily by an unknown miscreant when her mother was asleep and other relatives including the baby’s father were not present around bed number 769 in the ganaecology department.

Similarly, the baby, who was stolen on March 8, has been also handed over to Puspa and Pabitra Patra of Dhenkanal district.

Besides, rescuing the two infants from Kafla Bazar and Baranga, police has also arrested Manasi Samal for allegedly involved in crime and other three persons for allegedly involved in illegal purchase of the infants.

Mangalabag police conducted DNA test of the two babies and their parents after getting allowance from Cuttack SDJM court on March 18.
