New Delhi: The Supreme Court has issued notice to Centre to stop misuse of social media as it is dangerous. It said the government should step in immediately.
The court on Tuesday has asked the Centre to frame a specific set of guidelines for social media. The highest court of the land urged the Centre to link Aadhaar with social media accounts.
The Supreme Court has sought a report from the central government within the next 21 days.
The Supreme Court said: “We can’t get away by saying that we don’t have a technology to track originators of online crime, if there is a technology to do it, then there is a technology to stop it”.
The social media giant, Facebook, has countered the argument by saying that linking Aadhaar with social media accounts will impinge the privacy.
