Sambalpur Lawyers’ Bail Pleas Rejected Again

Sambalpur: The bail petitions of all the lawyers arrested in connection with protest and vandalism have been rejected by the Sambalpur district and sessions court.

Their bail applications had also been rejected by the SDJM court earlier. As the licenses of all the lawyers of Sambalpur Bar association have been suspended, lawyers from Kuchinda moved the petitions in the court.

The lawyers had been arrested for allegedly ransacking court properties and vandalizing court chamber while staging protest for their demand of a high court bench in western Odisha.

The Supreme Court had gone tough on the act of the advocates and asked Odisha police to take stringent actions against the erring lawyers.

The Bar council of India also suspended license of all the members of Sambalpur bar association following the incident.

The apex court has also drawn a full stop on the demand of High Court bench, citing digitisation of court. It added that one can file case and appear in the high court virtually. So, there is no justification of any bench of HC.
