Asian Games 2018: Saina Nehwal enters into badminton women’s single semis


Jakarta: Saina Nehwal secured another medal for India by entering into the semi-finals of the badminton women’s single at the 18th Asian Games here on Sunday.

Saina Nehwal won the quarter-final against Thailand’s Ratchanok Intanon in Women’s Singles Quarterfinal. Saina Nehwal beat Thailand’s Ratchanok Intanon in straight games of 21-18, 21-16 to reach women singles semifinals.

Trailing in the event by 3-11 at the mid-game break, Nehwal made a comeback in the game to win the opening game. It was a slow start for Nehwal, but she came back in the game to outclass Intanon and pave her way to the semi-finals.

She will take on World No. 1 Tai Tzu Ying of Chinese Taipei in the semis.
