Sabarimala row: Kerala government to implement apex court order

Thiruvananthapuram:  Kerala government is firm on its stand to implement the order of apex court on Sabarimala temple issue. The Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said since the Supreme Court had not stayed its September 28 verdict on the issue of entry of women into the shrine, the government has no other way but to allow them during the upcoming pilgrim season.

However, the opposition parties have demanded that the implementation of the apex court order should be put off till January 22.

As the all party meet did not reach any consensus, the opposition Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) and the BJP staged a walkout.

It is worthwhile to mention here that protests by devotees and various Hindu outfits had prevented some women in the 10-50 age group from entering the shrine when it opened twice since last month following apex court order.
