Vedanta, India’s largest aluminium producer, has launched two impactful CSR programs, “Project Vidya” and “Project Nirmal,” aiming to uplift rural communities in Sundargarh and Jharsuguda districts.
These initiatives benefit over 30,000 individuals by addressing critical needs such as education, clean water, and sanitation.
The inaugural event took place at Mundherkhet in Hemgir block, with Sundargarh Sub-Collector Mr. Dasarathi Saraboo gracing the occasion. Emphasizing the significance of collaboration in education, he commended Vedanta’s efforts for enhancing infrastructure and student well-being.
“Project Vidya” bridges teacher shortages in 20 schools by deploying 22 educators to improve learning in key subjects like Mathematics, Science, and English, while strengthening foundational literacy. Meanwhile, “Project Nirmal” focuses on water and sanitation by installing 11 solar-powered borewells, 50 bio-toilets, and 20 water purifiers across 12 villages.
Vedanta Coal Mines CEO, Mr. David Stone, highlighted, “We believe education and sustainable development hold the power to transform communities. These projects underscore our commitment to building better lives through essential resources.”
Beneficiary schools include the Government. U.P.S. Mundherkhet and schools in Kuraloi, Hemgir, and Ghogharpalli regions, alongside several others in peripheral areas, are fostering a brighter future for countless students and families.
