Rs 2 lakh cash seized from car in Bhubaneswar


Bhubaneswar: The election flying squad has seized Rs 2 lakh, in cash, from a car under Kharavela Nagar police limits of Bhubaneswar on Wednesday.

According to sources, the sleuths of election flying squad intercepted a car and conducted a search during which they found Rs 2 lakh hidden inside.

Reportedly, the police have seized the amount and initiated a probe. The driver of the car is also being interrogated regarding the amount.

In a similar incident, the election flying squad has seized Rs 4 lakh in cash and a gun from a car at Santapada square in Talcher here and detained two youths in the regard.

The sleuths of election flying squad last night tried to intercept a car on suspicion but the vehicle sped away.

However, the cops then chased the car and intercepted it at Santapada square. During the search, the cops found Rs 4 lakh in cash and a country-made gun.

It is not clear yet whether the cash belonged to any party or for any election-related cause. Talcher police have initiated an investigation into it.
