Rs 2 Cr liquor, Rs 1 Cr cash seized across state: Odisha CEO
Bhubaneswar: The election flying squad along with the district police have confiscated a huge amount of unaccounted cash along with the seizure of liquor in the state, informed Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Surendra Kumar today.
Addressing a presser here on Wednesday, the Odisha CEO disclosed that over Rs 1 crore, in cash and illegal liquor worth over Rs 2 crore have been seized during motor vehicle inspection in the state till now.
He further stated that persons carrying more than Rs 50,000 cash will be stopped and if no satisfactory answer regarding the source and purpose of cash is received, the person will be interrogated further.
Since the model code of conduct came into force, law enforcement agencies functioning under the directions of ECI have strengthened their vigil ahead of upcoming election across the state.
