Rourkela Slum 2019 Murder Case: Three Get Life Imprisonment


Rourkela: The ADJ-1 court in Rourkela today sentenced the three convicts of the Madhusudanpalli Basti Rabi Raja murder case to life imprisonment.

In addition, the court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 each on the three convicts— Santosh Tiwari, Rahul Ghosh and Bijay Badaik.

On May 5, 2019, a complaint was lodged with Plant Site police station alleging that Rabi Rajan was stabbed to death by three people in Madhusudanpalli Basti of Rourkela city.

Based on the statements of 23 witnesses, the ADJ-1 court convicted the trio– Santosh Tiwari, Rahul Ghosh and Bijay Badaik and sentenced them to life imprisonment with an imposition of Rs 10,000 on each. In case of default of fine payment, the convicts shall undergo 6 months more of imprisonment, the court ruled.

Rourkela ADJ-1 Dr V Sujatha conducted the sentencing hearing today. The case was handled by Additional Public Prosecutor Swarup Ranjan Rath.
