Robbers’ gang busted in Koraput, seven held

Lakshmipur: Police claimed to have busted a robbers’ gang with the arrest of seven persons from Kumbhariput area in Bandhugaon block of Koraput district on Wednesday.

The accused were identified as Sada Jakeka, Kambhu Mandinga, Lenka Maileka, Sahdev Pidika, Biswanath Pidika, Uma shankar Pidika, Upendar Khasla from Ginjikhal and Khambasu village of Bandhugaon block.

According to police, the accused were hatching a plan of dacoity behind a bush in Katabuda village. Following a tip-off, the accused were picked up during a routine patrolling from where they were hiding. However, one of the accused managed to flee from the spot.

Reportedly, police have seized some sharp weapons, five mobile phones and two motorcycles from their possession.

During investigation, the arrested persons also confessed that on 12 October 2019 they robbed around Rs 24, 000, a mobile phone and a tablet from an employee of a finance company. After eliciting initial information, the accused persons were forwarded to the court, informed the investigating officer.
