Revenue inspector caught taking Rs 5,000 bribe


Cuttack: Vigilance sleuths on Tuesday arrested a revenue inspector in Cuttack for allegedly receiving a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a person.

The accused was identified as Mahendra Kumar Behera, Revenue Inspector of Gaudapada R.I circle under Mahanga police limits in Cuttack. Vigilance Cell officers caught him red-handed while accepting the bribe from one Basudev Rout of Ranigod.

According to sources, the accused had demanded the bribe from Rout for sending the inquiry report to the Tahasildar Mahanga in connection with mutation case.

The bribe money was recovered from the possession of Behera and both hand washes gave a positive reaction, the vigilance sources said.
