Rejected Elephant Calf To Be Shifted To Nandankanan

Berhampur: The elephant calf, which was shunned by the herd of 16 pachyderms in Sunapur and later rescued by the forest department officials, will be shifted to Nandankanan zoological park in Bhubaneswar.

This was informed by DFO Amlan Nayak.

The baby elephant is currently at Tamana beat house. Soon it will be shifted to Nandankanan,” said the DFO.

It is worth mentioning that the elephant calf that went astray from its mother was intriguingly deserted by the herd.

The baby elephant was part of the herd which sneaked into the locality and subsequently entered Tampara lake causing extensive damage to prawn enclosures and fishing boats.
