Bhubaneswar: Regular flight operations will resume at Veer Surendra Sai (VSS) Airport, Jharsuguda from March 31, informed Airport director SK Chouhan on Saturday.
Chouhan said SpiceJet will start regular flight operations from the airport on three routes- Delhi, Kolkata and Hyderabad- from March 31.
The SpiceJet authorities today visited the airport to review the infrastructures and informed about the launching of the flight operations.
Earlier, the Civil Aviation Ministry had announced the launching of commercial flight services from VSS Airport to six cities of the country under the UDAN-3 scheme.
Those cities are Bhubaneswar, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Delhi and Raipur.
Moreover, flight services to multiple locations of Odisha will commence soon in four different routes under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) – UDAN 3.1.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation will award new routes to selected airlines by conducting a special round of bidding process for which a notification has been issued.
The four new routes to be awarded in Odisha are Bhubaneswar-Utkela, Utkela-Raipur, Jeypore-Bhubaneswar and Jharsuguda-Ranchi.
