Bhubaneswar: Health and Family Welfare department director Bijay Panigrahi on Thursday informed that the health workers, who have been registered for the COVID-19 vaccination in Odisha on Saturday, will receive the message on their mobile phones today.

The message will be sent to the health workers to inform location and timing for the vaccination, he added.

Besides, those in charge of vaccination will receive the message. The vaccinators will be informed about the session sites along with a list of the health workers who will be vaccinated.

Panigrahi further stated that a person administered COVID-19 vaccine will not be given a second shot of the vaccine if s/he gets infected with the virus after receiving the first dose.

“Antibodies get created 42 days after the first shot of the vaccine and 14 days after the second dose. If a person again tests positive for the virus in between the first and second dose, then the second shot will not be administered to him or her, ” said Panigrahi.

The first phase of vaccination in Odisha is scheduled to begin on January 16.
