New Delhi: Redmi 9 Prime is coming, and the smartphone will be unveiled on August 4 as Xiaomi’s latest budget smartphone. Xiaomi’s Global Vice President and Managing Director Manu Kumar Jain on Friday revealed that the new smartphone will launch at 12 noon and also confirmed a major specification.
The Redmi India Twitter handle’s name also has “Back to Prime” hashtag.
The phone, which is expected to be a slightly modified version of the Redmi 9 that was launched in Europe at a starting price of EUR 149 ( ₹12,700), is already listed on Amazon India as one of its Prime Day launches.
The Redmi 9 Prime will be sold via Amazon, mi.com, Mi Home stores, and Mi partner retailers in the country. There is no word on the price right now.
The teaser listed on Mi.com and Amazon India also hints that the upcoming Redmi 9 Prime will offer ‘Prime Time Entertainment’, ‘Prime Time Gaming’, ‘Prime Time Camera’, ‘Prime Time Design’, ‘Prime Time Battery’ and ‘Prime Time Quality’ Another teaser video shared by Xiaomi on Twitter reveals that the phone will come with splash-proof technology.
Redmi 9 comes with a 6.53-inch full HD+ display. It is powered by MediaTek’s Helio G80 processor. It has 13MP + 8MP + 5MP + 2MP camera setup at the back and an 8MP camera up front. It is backed by a 5,020mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging.
