Bhubaneswar: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a ‘Red Alert’ for Odisha as the low pressure area forming over the Bay of Bengal intensified.
The Met centre here has predicted an increase in rainfall across Odisha starting from today as the low pressure is intensifying and slowly moving towards the west.
A monsoon trap line has become active on the upper part of the atmosphere following which some parts of the State have already started to witness downpour.
Predicting heavy rainfall in the State till July 3, the IMD regional centre has alerted the Odisha Government to take adequate measures for a possible flood-like situation on the upper catchment areas of Mahanadi river system.
The weatherman has further advised the fishermen not to venture into the sea till July 3 as a precautionary measure.
