An undergraduate student of the Chemistry Department has brought sexual harassment allegations against an Assistant Professor of the department, Alekh Kumar Sutar, following which the committee was asked to probe and report. Pending inquiry, the teacher was placed under suspension on Saturday and debarred from entering into the department.

According to source, the accused Professor was found guilty as per the reports submitted confidentially. Though the teacher has been under suspension from Saturday, now it’s up to the Vice-Chancellor to take necessary action based on the report. The committee has also examined some more employees of the University in this connection in order to prepare a sound report.

Cuttack DCP Akhileswar Singh on being approached by a team of representatives on behalf of Women Cultural Committee headed by Binapani Das said, as this is the internal matter of the University and there was no report filed in any of the police stations, police is staying out of this matter.
