New Delhi: Ratan Lal(42), described as ‘an outstanding policeman’ by a superior, lost his life on Monday after bravely fighting rioters in northeast Delhi.
Lal was posted in Gokulpuri area here and was known to have conducted a number of raids in the area. Additional DCP Brijendra Yadav said that Lal had an ‘indefatigable’ attitude and lived his life with positive energy.
Lal sported a unique handlebar moustache just like that of Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman, who had shot down a Pak F-16 fighter jet on February 27 last year.
He belonged to Sikar in Rajasthan and was the eldest among three brothers and a sister. Lal is survived by his wife and three children, two girls aged 11 and 12 and a boy aged 8.
His kids waited for him to fulfill his promise of taking them back to their village to celebrate Holi, but he never returned.
