Rajnath Singh inaugurates India’s first ‘smart’ border fence
New Delhi: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday inaugurated country’s first ‘smart’ border fence pilot project along the India-Pakistan border in Jammu and Kashmir. Singh also visited the areas near the International border after the inauguration of the project.
A high-level meeting was orgainsed later, in which home minister Singh discussed the current security situation of the border areas. Border Security Force (BSF) DG K K Sharma including other senior officials were also present in the meeting.
The ‘smart’ border fence comprises of automated surveillance technology, alarm detection systems, fibre optical censor, and radar. It is, however, expected to be a massive boon for monitoring situations in border areas.
The laser fence will help the security forces to detect and foil infiltration bid by any miscreants. It will also help to take immediate action against any intrusion, the official said.
This apart, the laser fence will sound an alert if any one attempts to enter into the gap present in between the border.
