Jaipur: The Speaker of Rajasthan assembly CP Joshi has contradicted Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA).
He said citizenship is the subject of Centre, not of state. Speaking in Udaipur, Joshi said: “Government of India has passed the Citizenship Amendment Act and the state government has to implement it.”
“Under the Constitution, citizenship is a subject of the Centre, not of the state,” he was quoted as saying by news agencies. Alike chief ministers of other Congress-rules states, Gehlot has also been demanding that CAA be repealed. In December last year, the Rajasthan CM had said that the new law has “shaken the entire country”.
