Rajasthan govt announces scheme to benefit farmers

Jaipur: Rajasthan government has announced an innovative scheme for providing loan advances to farmers up to 70 per cent of the value of the produce.

This will be beneficial for the agrarian community as a slew of measures announced by the Modi government may prove to be a game-changer for them.

The state is going to charge mere 3 per cent interest on the loan advance while the rest 7% would be borne by the state through Sahkar Kisan Kalyan Yojana.

The Ashok Gehlot government has simultaneously decided to give a grant of Rs 50 crore for the purpose through newly imposed Kisan Kalyan Kosh collected through levying 2% on the sale of agriculture produce in the state.

With the Central government announcing deregulation of sale of six types of produce, farmers in Rajasthan are all set to become an agriculture entrepreneur in their own rights.

Centre will deregulate the sale of six types of agriculture produce, including cereals, pulses, edible oils, oilseeds, onions and potatoes by amending Essential Commodity Act 1955.
