Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional centre here informed that several districts across Odisha will witness heavy to very heavy rainfall predicted in the next 24 hours.
Four districts including Kalahandi, Koraput, Kandhamal and Malkangiri will experience very heavy rainfall. Besides, nine other districts in Odisha, mostly the interior areas, will witness moderate to heavy rainfall.
The latest IMD bulletin also stated that the rainfall activity is likely to intensify from August 1 as a low-pressure formation is predicted in a couple of days.
“A cyclonic circulation lies over northwest Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood, which extends up to 7.6km above mean sea level having a tilt of southwestwards with height, and under its influence, a low-pressure area is likely to form during next 2-3 days,” the regional office of India Meteorological Office said last evening.
Fishermen were advised not to venture into the sea in the next two days.
