Raids Ahead Of New Year: Bars, Food Joints Sealed In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: A joint enforcement squad of Commissionerate Police and Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Thursday conducted raids at several places and sealed many shops and markets that were found violating Covid-19 guidelines.

BMC Additional Commissioner Laxmikant Sethi informed the joint team raided the Khao Gali (Food Street) behind Ram Mandir and Food Court in the Esplanade One Mall after finding people are not following Covid appropriate behavior. Both the Food Street and Food Court have been sealed till January 2, 2022, Sethi added.

Eateries and shops from Jagmara to new Airport Road, Siripur Market to Gopabandhu Chhak and new airport backside areas were closed due to inappropriate Covid-19 behaviour.

The  Commissionerate Police and BMC team also sealed a bar located at Patia under the North Zone of the city that was found flouting Covid protocols yesterday.

DCP Security Nirmal Satapathy also directed people to wear masks and maintain social distance norms.
