Bhubaneswar: Congress president Rahul Gandhi will come to Odisha on a one-day visit in February last week, party sources said today.
It will be the third visit of Congress chief to the state in less than a month. His back-to-back visits ahead of Lok Sabha and Assembly polls are expected to boost the party’s electoral prospect.
According to Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee president Niranjan Patnaik, Rahul will address a public meeting during his visit. However, the exact date of his visit and tour details is yet to be finalised.
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who was recently appointed the Congress’s general secretary, is also expected to visit Odisha along with Rahul.
“We have requested Priyanka to come to Odisha along with the party chief,” Patnaik added.
On January 25, the Congress president visited Odisha and addressed a rally at Tamando Stadium on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar.
Recently, he attended meetings in Bhawanipatna and Rourkela on February 6. In his address in Bhawanipatna, Rahul had promised to waive off agriculture loan up to Rs 2 lakh and fix the minimum support price (MSP) for paddy at Rs 2,600 per quintal if voted to power.
