Rahul Gandhi to contest from Wayanad seat in Kerala, Amethi from UP


New Delhi: Congress chief Rahul Gandhi will contest from Wayanad seat in Kerala along with Amethi constituency in Uttar Pradesh in the ensuing polls.

Congress leader AK Antony said:”Rahul has given his consent to contest from two seats, very happy to inform you that he will also contest from Wayanad in Kerala.”

Last week, All India Congress Committee (AICC) General secretary Oommen Chandy had told the media that Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) has requested Gandhi to contest from one of the seats in Kerala.

The BJP leader Smriti Irani had challenged Gandhi on his home turf Amethi In 2014 Lok Sabha elections, but had lost.

However, she managed to bring down Gandhi’s victory margin to 1.07 lakhs from 3.70 lakh in 2009 Lok Sabha polls.
