Puri: Puri Jagannath Temple reopened today for the residents of the district. The locals can have the darshan of the Trinity till December 31. Puri residents will be allowed for darshan from 26.12.2020 to 31.12.2020 (5 PM).
During the first three days, only the family members of the servitors were permitted for darshan.
The temple will remain closed on 01.01.2021 and 02.01.2021 to avoid any possibility of spike in transmission of COVID-19 as huge congregation is expected on the occasion of new year. From 03.01.2021, all devotees will be allowed inside the temple for darshan.
People of ward number 2, 3, 6, 9, 11, 12 today got the chance to have the darshan of the deities in a phased manner (three shifts) starting from 7:30 am.
“As many as eight kiosks have been made for the smooth and disciplined darshan of the devotees. Security personnel will be deployed at all the kiosks to ensure strict adherence of Covid-19 guidelines,” stated DIG Asish Singh.
Meanwhile, barricades have been raised along the Bada Danda from Municipal Market chowk. As many as nine rows have been erected within the barricades to ensure that devotees enter the temple in queues
