Puri: The servitors, who will be engaged in various rituals of the annual Rath Yatra of the Holy Trinity this year, will wear specially-designed face masks from Boyanika.
The servitors of deities will carry out the rituals by wearing face masks during 9-day-long sojourn as part of precautions against the spread of the deadly virus.
The office of SJTA on Friday had urged Boyanika to provide 5,000 face masks to Srimandir ahead of Ratha Jatra. The authorities have finalised the design of the masks for servitors. The masks will be designed keeping in view of the colours of three chariots and it will be made of popular handloom ‘Bandha’.
The Ratha Jatra will be held on June 23 this year.
However, the annual Ratha Yatra this year will be done only by the servitors. It has been decided that only the servitors of the temple shall bring the deities on to the chariots which is known as ‘pahandi’ (ceremonial procession).
