Puri Kicks Off ‘Mo Beach Yoga’ To Promote Public Health & Eco Awareness
Puri: After a huge success of Mo Beach campaign, the beach management committee here has initiated a first of its kind beach campaign ‘Mo Beach Yoga’ to promote environmental awareness and healthy lifestyle habits through yoga.
The initiative is aimed at promoting public health and environment education in a novel way amidst COVID-19 after the Golden beach identified under the Integrated Coastal Zone Management Project (ICZMP) recently received the ‘Blue Flag’ certificate.
The programme is a pilot project of the Directorate of AYUSH, Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of Odisha.
In collaboration with Beach Management Committee of Puri district administration, the health programme is being organised at 5.30 am at Puri beach for two days — on October 17 and 18 — with strict adherence to COVID-19 guidelines.
The two-day-long event which kicked off today has seen the participation of over 200 Covid-recovered persons.
They were being oriented by 10 instructors from the Gopabandhu Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya in the pilgrim town.
There are 10 well-organised and curated platforms along the 800mt stretch on the beach for the ‘Mo Beach Yoga’ initiative.
The programme is organised on a pilot basis with Yogic respiratory exercises by recovered people invited from all walks of life.
