Puri decks up for Rath Yatra tomorrow

Puri: The nine-day annual festival of Jagannath Rath Yatra festival will begin tomorrow and it is expected that lakhs of devotees would congregate in the pilgrim town to witness the chariot festival.

Tight security arrangements for have been put in place to ensure smooth conduct of Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath and his siblings in Puri. Large numbers of police personnel have deployed to give proper security arrangement to the devotees and tourists during Gundicha Yatra, Bahuda Yatra, Sunavesha, Nabajoubana Darshana and Niladribije.

The three chariots of the deities are ready and has been put near the temple for yatra tomorrow.

Wearing masks was made mandatory for devotees coming to see the annual Rath yatra. The festival of Lord Jagannath this time will see the participation of devotees after two years. In 2020 and 2021, only servitors took part in rituals due to the pandemic.

Sources said, “thousands of devotees soaked in devotion thronged Srikhetra Puri on Wednesday to get a glimpse of the Holy Trinity Lord Jagannath, his elder brother Lord Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra who have appeared in a rejuvenated and youthful vigour after coming out of the Anasara ghara (sick room). The ritual is famously known as Nabajouban Darshan of the deities.
