Punjilal Meher Gets Interim Bail From Orissa HC To Perform Mother’s Last Rites
Bolangir: Punjilal Meher, the mastermind in the sensational wedding gift blast case in Patnagarh, received a 4-day interim bail from Orissa High Court to perform post-funeral rites of his mother who passed away a few days ago.
Punjilal had applied for parole to perform last rites of his mother at his native place.
The accused’s mother Indumati Meher breathed her last at the District Headquarters Hospital on January 11 while she was undergoing treatment for cancer-related ailments.
Meher walked out of the Balangir jail amidst tight security, after the Orissa High Court granted him interim bail.
Punjilal, a lecturer at Jyoti Vikash Junior College in Patnagarh, was arrested in 2018 in the parcel bomb blast case in which a newlywed youth Soumya Sekhar Sahoo and his grandmother Jemamani were killed. Soumya’s wife, Reema was also seriously injured in the blast.
