Chandigarh: The Punjab Assembly has passed a resolution to scrap Citizenship Amendment Act on Friday. Punjab has followed suit of Kerala.
The state is ruled by the Congress party. Reports said Brahm Mohindra, a state minister, has moved the resolution against the CAA on Friday, the second day of the 2-day special Assembly session.
Mohindra said: “The CAA enacted by Parliament has caused countrywide anguish and social unrest with widespread protests all over the country. The state of Punjab also witnessed protests against this legislation, which were peaceful and involved all segments of our society”.
