Pulwama Attack: Naveen announces Rs 10 lakh ex-gratia to kin of Odia jawans


Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today announced an ex gratia of Rs 10 lakh each to the families of two Odisha jawans martyred in the Pulwama terror attack.

Prasanna Sahu and Manoj Behera were among the 45 jawans who were killed in one of the deadliest terror attacks in J&K’s Pulwama district yesterday.

Sahu, who hailed from Shikhar village in Naugaon block of Jagatsinghpur district, was posted as havildar in 61 Battalion. Similarly, Behera, a resident of Ratanpur in Niali area of Cuttack was a constable in the CRPF.

Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister spoke to the families of martyred CRPF personnel over the telephone and conveyed his deep sympathy.

The CM took to the Twitter to ess his deep grief over the death of two jawans. Praying for peace to the departed souls, the CM expressed condolences to the bereaved family members.

Patnaik also directed Finance Minister Sasibhusan Behera and Health Minister Pratap Jena to pay a visit to the bereaved family of the Odia jawans.
