New York: Priyanka Chopra Jonas and hubby Nick Jonas are bringing an unscripted series about an Indian pre-wedding tradition to Amazon.
The power couple in collaboration with Amazon is set to produce an untitled dance competition show, the theme of which is inspired by the Indian pre-wedding tradition of Sangeet.
The streamer on Wednesday announced that it has greenlit the Untitled Priyanka Chopra Jonas/Nick Jonas Sangeet Project, a reality competition series EP’d by the A-list couple.
The series, casting for which is already underway, will be filmed in 2020 with participants driving the creative vision for their respective ceremonies.
The project hails from Amazon Studios and Alfred Street Industries’ Dan Cutforth and Jane Lipsitz, Chopra Jonas’ Purple Pebble Pictures and Jonas’ Image 32. In addition to the famous couple, Dan Volpe, Anjula Acharia, Phil McIntyre and Nina Anand Aujla will executive produce the series alongside Cutforth and Lipsitz.
The Sangeet — which takes place the night before the ceremony, bringing together the families of the betrothed for a performance-filled evening of song and dance — played a pivotal role in the duo’s own lavish nuptials last year.
